While a 15-year-old girl - not related to the family - remains in a Brisbane hospital following the single-car rollover.
Steven and Caroline Hutchinson, both aged 37, died on Saturday after their out-of-control car travelled from the right to the left side of Gooburrum Rd before rolling.
The couple's two sons, aged five and 17, were also in the car but escaped with minor injuries.
The 15-year-old girl, believed to be the girlfriend of the 17-year-old son, was flown to Brisbane overnight Saturday in a stable condition.
Flowers have been left at the side of the road and yesterday friends of the Hutchinson's were struggling to understand how the tragedy unfolded just metres from the family's home.
Bundaberg road policing unit officer-in-charge Sergeant Marty Arnold said police would investigate speed, driver behaviour and whether all passengers were wearing seatbelts.
"We're investigating the behaviour of the driver at the time of the crash including possibilities of speed and seatbelts," he said
"It appears he (Mr Hutchinson) has lost control."
The NewsMail understands both the 15-year-old girl and Mrs Hutchinson had been flung out of the car during the crash.
Sgt Arnold said any death on the road was a tragedy especially when a family lost its parents in avoidable circumstances.
"Once again these serious crashes and deaths are attributed to the fatal five and people make silly mistakes through inattention and driver behaviour," he said.
"We're pleading with the public, especially during the school holidays to drive within the rules and just don't take unnecessary risks."
