TWO of Australia's leading Toastmasters will be speaking at the upcoming Leadership and Communication in Ipswich event.

Mike Storkey and his wife Lesley Storkey will be the keynote speakers at the event, which will be held at the Barry Jones Auditorium on Wednesday, November 14.

As the Toastmasters International president, Mr Storkey guided a worldwide organisation that supports more than 360,000 members in 146 countries.

He will share with business leaders and guests some of the insights and the learnings from his year as the leader of a large, diverse international organisation and the benefits to both individuals and to businesses when people develop better communications and leadership skills in those communities.

The pair, along with Interim Administrator of Ipswich, Greg Chemello, will also be presenting membership awards to a large group of new toastmasters.

Ipswich Toastmaster president Michael Ming said it was a real honour to welcome the husband and wife duo to town.

"We are very honoured to have Mike and Lesley Storkey as our very special guests in Ipswich to help us celebrate the positive benefits of Toastmasters in our city," Mr Ming said.

The Leadership and Communication in Ipswich event is free to attend and open to the public. The event will begin at 5.30pm.

If you would like to attend a meeting of the Ipswich Toastmasters, they meet at 5.30pm on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at level one in the Humanities Building.
