A KAWANA Shoppingworld cafe is about to enter a legal battle with the centre, following the closure of the business this week.
Gluten Free For Me customers shared their dismay after the family-owned cafe announced it had closed after a dispute over power outages.
"This is due to a dispute with Mirvac, the owners and managers of Kawana Shoppingworld," the cafe owners said.
"This situation has been ongoing for well over 18 months and we have finally succumbed to the pressure.
"We have been unable to recover from 15 power losses to the premises in the first 12 months of operation causing stock loss and inability to trade."
The store's closure announcement came the same day as Miss Temple Fitness was locked out of its premises by Kawana Shoppingworld managers Mirvac.
Owner Sarah Davey told the Daily there were no plans yet to open another cafe, and, with four children, the couple had to concentrate on working jobs and providing for the family.
The owners asked customers not to boycott the centre.
"The other shop owners are amazing," they posted to social media.
"Please continue to support the other shops at Kawana Shoppingworld."
Kawana Shoppingworld centre management confirmed that there were "a few" power outages at the centre between May 2015 and April 2016, however, work was undertaken to mitigate future outages.
"Kawana Shoppingworld has not experienced a power outage since April 2016," a statement read.
A centre management representative could not comment on specific details in the matter, except to say that it did offer support to tenants affected by issues such as power outage.
"Centre management is currently in negotiations with Gluten Free For Me and due to commercial sensitivities, is unable to comment further on the nature of those negotiations," a statement read.
