FIRST home buyers at Ecco Ripley are swooping in on the $20,000 First Home Owners Grant ahead of the expiry of the extended offer on December 31.

The grant is helping first home owners get the keys to their new home sooner and making the dream of owning a home more affordable.

May Yang and Sylvia Lee are among many first home buyers at Ecco Ripley who have gained a foothold on the property ladder through the extended grant.

The two friends are making the move to Ecco Ripley in the burgeoning Ripley Valley region after renting in Carindale for the past three years.

The friends have been analysing the Brisbane property market since relocating to Brisbane from Sydney.

"After observing the property market throughout the year, we thought it was the right time to buy considering the $20,000 First Home Owners' Grant is quickly coming to an end,” Ms Yang said.

"Ripley was the second suburb we visited after Springfield, and we fell in love with the area immediately.

"It is very natural and quiet. Ecco Ripley is ideal as you still have your own space.”

Ms Yang was immediately sold on the position of her new Ecco Ripley home site.

"The land I purchased has great mountain views and is situated slightly higher than the other homes which creates a beautiful outlook,” she said.

"As soon as I visited the lot, my decision to buy was instant.”

The best friends of 20 years chose a four-bedroom Voila design home in Brooking Rise, the first neighbourhood of the $500 million Ecco Ripley masterplanned community.

"The Voila design was definitely most suited to our lifestyle,” she said.

The pair purchased a house and land package over an established home, after being swayed by the availability of the $20,000 First Home Owners' Grant.

"We decided to build a new home to access the grant,” Ms Yang said.

"We also thought it would be great to build as we could make the variations we wanted and still be within budget.

"The handover process is quickly approaching and we couldn't be more excited.”

The friends both work in Brisbane and are happy to make the daily commute into the city.

"The value proposition at Ecco Ripley is simply too good to walk away from,” Ms Yang.

"After we saw the plans for the Ripley Town Centre and future development of the surrounding areas, we were confident that we had made a smart and sensible long-term investment in the region.”

Buyers in Ecco Ripley have the option of building a home design by Sekisui House or a builder of their choice.

Sekisui House has a range of new homes already built and ready to move in that qualify for the $20,000 First Home Owners' Grant.

To be eligible for the First Home Owners' Grant, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, you or your spouse must not have previously owned property in Australia, you must be at least 18 years of age, and you must be buying or building a brand-new home valued under $750,000.
